Rainwater Recycling System

1.0       Rainwater Recycling System Performance

The Rainwater Recycling System shall be designed to collect rainwater in a 4,000 gallon storage tank.  Collected water will re-pressurized via one of two pumps to output water at a rate of 35 gpm @ 40psi to the irrigation system.  When not feeding the irrigation system, one of the pumps shall recirculate the holding tank through a bank of bag filters and a 254 nm UV for sanitization.  The pumps will automatically alternate with each cycle.  The Rainwater Recycling System shall be controlled via a common PLC driven control panel with touch screen operator interface.

  • White polypropylene construction, ¾” thick thermally formed sidewalls, 1” thick routed and extrusion welded bottom (triple bead interior weld)

  • Rain water inlet, vent, level control, city water inlet, recirculation return, and pump suction flanges
  • Non-metallic spray ball assembly on recirculation return line
  • Encapsulated steel girths for support

  • Multi-stage booster pump, T316 stainless steel/Viton wetted parts
  • Max. fluid temperature of 180 degrees F
  • Three phase motor, TEFC
  • Designed for min. 35 gpm @ 40 psi
  • Common adjustable pressure switch on output, NEMA 4X, 0-100 psi adjustable
  • Pumps will have PVC isolation and check valves.

1T304SS UV chamber with 254 nm wavelength bulbs.  Sized for 35 gpm minimum @ 50 bulb capacity.   Unit shall have an automatic wiper. Aqua-Azul brand.

Central system control panel containing the following:

  • Three phase disconnect switch to automatically cut power to the panel for servicing.  Provided with lockout capabilities.
  • Motor protectors for recirculation pumps
  • Siemens series programmable logic controller (PLC) to contain ladder logic to operate the entire system.
  • Siemens graphic display package including touch screen for each electric device in the system to indicate its operating status.
  • Long life, low voltage LED indicator lights.
  • NEMA 4 electrical rating
  • Painted blue, consistent with the other system components.
  • UL panel labeling required
  • Adjustable alarm horn with silence button
  • All required controls and accessories for complete system operation

Rainwater Recycling System components other than storage tank to be factory mounted and plumbed on common epoxy coated carbon steel skid.

Electrical conduit shall be corrosion resistant PVC with PolyTuff flexible conduit as manufactured by Hubbell.

3.0       DOCUMENTATION AND OPERATING MANUALS

The equipment supplier shall furnish the following with the system, in duplicate.  All documents and prints described below will be contained in the system operating manuals.

  • Plumbing process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID).
  • Electrical ladder diagrams for control panel, in accordance with accepted practices.
  • Complete bill of materials, including system sub components along with major components
  • Cross-reference between each print and the bill of materials, providing references to system components.
  • Operating and maintenance manuals containing descriptive information on the operation of the system, operating and troubleshooting information, spare parts, specification sheets and manufacturer’s cut sheets and service manuals.
  • Complete ladder and logic diagram (program) loaded into PLC
